New Idea | “That’s what THEY said” Thursday

Instead of doing the contest format, I think I’m going to do something different. I’ll do something of a ‘Quote Moment” that I found on fridaysandbooks (check her out, btw!).

And also, sorry for the hiatus! That was like, three or four weeks or something. It’s been so long! But like I said before, I had exams coming up! (But let’s get back to work.)

And I might just redesign my blog to celebrate a new season. Happy summer!

Your Majesty Lunar,

Sunshine Blog Award

Thank you to Victoria @ Addlepates and Book Nerds for the nomination! This is very important to me because I, as a blogger, have never been nominated for anything before!

  1. What is your favorite music genre? Currently, electronic. Songs like Faded, Sceptre (going with the Alan Walker theme here). I can’t really think of any more. Oh, and dance pop.
  2. Team Britney or Team Avril? I have no answer.
  3. Do you read comic books? Why/why not? The only comics that I read are Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin is such an interesting six-year-old, and his stuffed/real tiger is a different character than all I’ve ever read about. Plus, Bill Watterson is such a good artist! Even the pictures make me laugh and they really add to the story.
  4. What’s your favorite(s) movie(s)? I think I’ve watched Jumanji a couple hundred times too many. And a more recent? Zootopia. It has a very strong message that I enjoyed. Nick Wilde is awesome! I really, truly want to have a character in one of my stories modeled after him.
  5. Do you have a favorite actress? What about a favorite actor? EMMA WATSON ALL. THE. WAY.
  6. What’s your favorite book genre? Ummm…young adult or fantasy. I’m just getting into romance.
  7. What is your Hogwarts house? #SlytherinPrideUnknown.jpeg
  8. What are your chances at surviving a zombie apocalypse?  I took this quiz that Victoria used and got 62.7%. Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 11.27.56 AM

My questions:

  1. How would you describe your writing style?
  2. What are some of your obsessions (they don’t have to be about books)?
  3. What OTP would you absolutely most want? What are some ship that you ship dearly?
  4. Series or trilogies?
  5. Are you a Shadowhunter? If so, what family? What other fandoms do you belong to?
  6. What Hogwarts house pairing are you in (for example, I’m a Slytherclaw)?
  7. And finally, list some random facts about what you like to read.

  1. Thank the person that nominated you.
  2. Answer the questions the nominee has given.
  3. Write questions for other nominees.
  4. Nominate other bloggers.
  5. Notify your nominees.

NomineesAgain, thank you hermionefowl for nominating me! You guys should go check her out, btw 🙂

What I Eat While Reading | Super Saturday

I am such a book foodie. I will eat and eat while reading. Chips, milkshakes, you name it. And for this Super Saturday, I will share with you some of my favorite eats.

1. Lemon-honey Ice Tea (Homemade)

Yasss. Delight in a tall glass cup, and I can pretend I’m drinking vodka or something. Perfect for a sweltering summer’s day right after a couple of hours of full hard tennis. Ahh, the delight.

How to make it:

  1. Put about three to four raspberries (or any berries, your choosing) in each compartment of an ice cube tray. Freeze.
  2. Mix two cups of water with 1/2 cup of coarsely chopped ginger and 1/3 cup of honey and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to simmer for about five minutes.
  4. Turn off heat and add six green or white tea bags. Steep for thirty minutes to one hour.
  5. Strain out solids and add 6 cups of water and some squeezed lemon (I usually use about two or three squirts, tasting until I get it right) to the mixture.
  6. Take the ice cubes from the freezer and use to chill. Enjoy!

2. Chobani Mix Yogurt

I absolutely adore the wonderful goodness of those square mix yogurts, especially the salted caramel flavor. Every time I go to Tom Thumb, I will buy, like, ten of those.

3. Coconut Water

Any kind will do. I prefer sweet water over regular water. What’s the fun in that? Coconut water is my FREAKING LIFE.

4. Berry Yogurt Parfait (Homemade)

I use plain yogurt, such as Greek yogurt, and stir in some spoonfuls of sugar. I layer blueberries and/or raspberries along with the mixture. And then I enjoy.

The TBR Tag | Book Tag

Thank you icebreaker694 for tagging me, and check her out! I am tagging people for this one because I was tagged, so check at the bottom to see who was nominated.

Let’s go, this is a long one!

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I usually have a post every month or so under Monthly TBR (my most recent one here) that holds about five to six books that I want to read (it’s quite short, actually).

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I have a top two books that I really want to read, and I look for those in the library first. If I don’t find those, I look for all the others.

A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?

Eye of Minds. A very, very , very long time; ever since I finished reading The Death Cure.

A book you recently added to your TBR?

Six of Crows. I read on so many blogs that I just had to add it to the list.

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

Shatter Me. Just look at the cover. Nothing more needs to be said. tumblr_mlxfqiUsBa1s8o5wlo1_500

The waterfall, tho. No joke.

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

Probably The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It seems really old fashioned and I’m kinda iffy about reading it.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?

I don’t really have one at the top of my mind, but I am excited for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (the new HP movie)! Comment below if you are too 🙂

I book on your TBR that everyone has read but not you?

These aren’t on my Monthly TBR list, but I want to read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Also, The Heir by Kiera Cass.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

Six of Crows! All of the bloggers I have read have recommended it to me!

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?

Sorry…Six of Crows again. The cover looks so beautiful and it looks so beautiful and the story looks so well written and….

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

I don’t use Goodreads as a TBR shelf, but I do have around seven to ten books that I can think of that I want to read.

And here are are the people I tag for this book tag:

Pegasus & Unicorn @ Pegacorn Paperbacks

Analee @ Book Snacks

Victoria @ Addlepates and Book Nerds

Samantha, Jessie, and Ashley @ Spines & Covers

Charlotte @ Wonderfully Bookish

As always, I officially tag anyone who wants to do it, just link back here!

Thanks so much, guys!

The A-Z About Me Tag | Book Tag…not really

This isn’t actually a book tag, it’s more about me. I found this from Victoria @ Addlepates and Book nerds, so thanks so much!

A – Age: 12 (young, I know, I get that a lot)

B – Book you are reading: The Elite and The Wild Ones

C – Chore you hate: Putting up my clothes. I will never, ever do it and will either throw them in my drawer or make my sister sort them. I don’t even use that many clothes a week.

D – Dessert you love: I love anything sweet. Cake (if it’s the right kind, like cookie cake or tiramisu), cookies, ice cream

E – Essential start your day item: That depends. I don’t really have a set routine. Sometimes I wake up at 5:00 if I want to take a shower that morning, then I might read or blog until I have to go down stairs to eat breakfast. Or if I don’t feel like getting up, I will sleep until the last minute and throw on some clothes for school. But I have never missed breakfast.

F – Favourite author/ book: HARRY POTTER AND J.K. ROWLING FOREVAH

Silver NecklaceG – Gold or silver: Silver. I love the sleek design and the way it complements anything without being too attractive.

H – Height: 5’2″

I – Instruments you play: The piano.

J – Job title: Middle school student, and I tutor the neighborhood kids and my friend’s sister.

K – Kid(s): None!

L – Living arrangements: With my dad and little sister

M – Most overused word/phrase in your vocabulary: I have to agree with Victoria on this one: “like” it is!

N – Nicknames: Mostly from school teachers and friends…Nae-Nae, Neehaw, some others like that.

O – Overnight hospital stay other than birth: Never, not really.

P – Pet Peeve: I hate it when people have bed grammar and spelling! It bothers me so much; I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to these things!

Q- Quotes you like: Any one related to Harry Potter, but the funniest one might be: “I mean, I can imagine not being as pricey as Jason or Percy, but am I worth, like, two or three Franks?” (I know that one by heart.) Really, any by Leo is good!

R – Right or left handed: Right.

S – Siblings: 7-year-old sister

T – Time you woke up today: 5:00! That took effort…

U – Unique thing about you: A lot of my friends say I’m really smart…but I would say that I’m “tragically funny and good-looking”–another Leo quote! JK 🙂 But I am funny 😛

V – Vegetable you love: Aahh…baked potatoes with sour cream and cheese, or raw carrots, or raw cabbage/lettuce…

W – Worst habit: “Procrastinating. I can be really organised, and know exactly what I have to do, but just don’t get around to doing it…” said by Victoria, and I agree!

X – X-rays you’ve had: None, other than the ones they give at the dentist.

Y – Yummy food you make: I can make delicious…uh…water…TEA…

Z – Zodiac Sign: Libra!

I’m not tagging anyone…anyone who wants to do it may do so!!!

Top Ten Tuesday | May 10th (Ten Websites I Love That Aren’t About Books)

Another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, as you all know!

Ten Websites I Love That Aren’t About Books, guys, so here it goes!

1. Buzzfeed

This is an Internet jackpot of everything from books (of course) to personality quizzes to Internet trending stuff so I don’t look like I’ve been living under a rock! It has things like “21 Things To Buy For Book Lovers” and “13 Funny Texts That Are Too Good To Be True.”

2. YouTube (Music)

No one can live without YouTube, and I am obsessed with music. You will almost always find me listening to music while I write or study.

3. Spotify

Another music website/app! I mainly use this to create lists of all my favorite songs, not o actually listen. I use the YouTube Music app for that.

4. Pinterest

Pinterest is my go-to social media app for funny stuff. (and some book-related memes)

5. Fantasy Name Generators

This is the website that I will always have open in another tab when writing. I can never think of names for people, places, animals, etc., and this website has it all. And I’m not kidding. All. Go check her out!

6. Google Drive

I use this for writing anything. Schoolwork, fantasy writing, everything. I don’t use Word or Pages or anything else.

I can’t really think of anymore, but if you have any, be sure to let me know in the comments!

Wild+Ones+coverTitle: The Wild Ones

Author: Alex London

Genre: Fantasy

Series: -NONE-

Preceded by: -NONE-

Followed by: NONE-

I am now officially obsessed with stand-alone books. So, like, OFFICIALLY. Check out my entire to-be-read list of books by following my Goodreads.

Goodreads Synopsis

When a country raccoon used to a soft life winds up all alone in the big city, there’s no telling what he’ll do to survive — and to save his fellow wild animals in the process.

Kit, a young raccoon, has lived his whole life under the Big Sky in the comfort of his parents’ burrow. But when a pack of hunting dogs destroy his home and kill his parents, Kit finds himself in Ankle Snap Alley, a city in the midst of a turf war between the Wild Ones and the people’s pets who call themselves The Flealess. There he follows the clues his parents left behind to uncover the secret that they died for–the existence of an ancient truce that gives Ankle Snap Alley to the Wild Ones. But The Flealess will stop at nothing to keep that secret buried forever–and Kit is in serious danger.
Perfect for fans of the Warriors, Spirit Animals, or Redwall series, this first book in the Wild Ones epic is sure capture young readers’ imaginations and take them on a great adventure.

Yeah. So, more of kids than anything, but still. IMAGINATIVE. WILDLY. 🙂

Please. I will now write in short, blocked sentences for the rest of my life because of the sheer awesomeness of this book.

As Katherine Applegate, author of The One and Only Ivan, says:

“Raccoon hero Kit and his ragtag community of creatures will sneak their way into you heart. they may pick your pocket too, but they’ll take you on an adventure you won’t forget. This is a fantasy that kids will adore (and quick-of-paw parents will steal). A wild ride from a wildly imaginative author.”

So now you now.

The book itself in mainly aimed towards younger audiences, but if you appreciate the writing, you will enjoy it immensely. It was different from what I usually read, but all the same, I give it:
